The Make Up Show 2013!

Happy Fall Y'all!
Can you believe it's already October?
October is a wonderful month, it is also when my 2 worlds collide!
It is high season in the make up industry and BCAM (breast cancer awareness month)!!
My calendar/book looks like, well-let's just say there is a good bit of ink going on! I love being so busy and balanced in my two worlds because really-it's just who I am! There is so much I want to write about-all of our projects going from presenting Warriors Wear Lipstick to the Young Survivor Coalition (next blog) to the recent marvelous week long Indian wedding we had the honor of working, to this.....
The 2013 Make Up Show!!

Some of you remember that last year all 5 of us Make Up Mavens went as a group and had a blast. This year Margaret and I had the opportunity to go together and it did NOT disappoint!
I could write a book, but here are the highlights!

The Make Up Show is a show that includes the industry's top make up artists,
best brands, and exclusive exhibitors! It is simply mind blowing the people you are meeting and networking with. They are global artist at the top of their game, and most of them are famous in the own right much less their clientele. They are the most humble group of people you will find. There were hands on classes and workshops, as well as seminars and keynote speakers-giving life changing speeches. I still can't believe I had the honor of actually asking THE Billy B a question in which he graciously answered. We met so many amazing people last year (that we keep in frequent touch with) and this year, we added to the list. Along with Johnny Lavoy, James Vincent, Michael DeVellis-we got to meet and learn from Billy B and Orlando Santiago! Billy B's class was life changing!
It is also a time to network and SHOP for all the latest and greatest products out there!
This year, we were smart and went in with a game plan, a well thought out list, and a BUDGET!! We would make our rounds and then step aside to collaborate. We wanted to make wise choices and we felt we did! I found so many fabulous products and tools and a new kit and airbrush system (more on that later)!
We also met some fabulous new friends from Serenity & Scott (a sleek uber cool all vegan brand),Inglot, Stila, Make Up Forever, Nigels Beauty, NARS, Ellis Faas, Kett, and Kevyn Aucoin! Those were just a few of our favorites!
All in all in was a wonderful trip with the just the right combination of education and inspiration!
Next year, we are clearing our schedules for The Artist Summit! It will be here before we know it. We were grateful for the opportunity to attend The Make Up Show and represent our wonderful community of MUA here in good ole Charleston!
Here are a few pics from our trip-until next time!! xo

THE Billy B! We have been quoting him since we left! "Get out of your own way"- is my fav!
Me, Margaret, and Mr. Orlando Santiago!
Look who we found-the fabulous Ashley Brooke Perryman!!
Adore this gal and she is CRAZY talented!!
James Vincent... Probably the biggest heart in the biz!
 Me and my girl!
The Make Up Show Orlando 2013!
A few goodies <3 font="">

We have some amazing things in store in the very near future-new branding, updated site, and a few other goodies up our sleeves! We can't wait to roll it ALL out...SOON!!
We promise!!

Ooh La Laura...

As in Laura Mercier!!
Most people know in my kit, I carry just about every brand under the sun.
There are so many amazing make up lines out there, we use what we love and whatever it takes!
Our job is to test products before we use them on our clients! I tell people, it is a huge perk of this fabulous job I have-spoken like a true junkie right?
Fall is my all time favorite season for most things, including make up. I love the textures, the colors, and the diversity one can have with fall make up!
People ask me all the time if I have one favorite line of make up...I truly love so many but I do have some favorites. Laura Mercier is up there in the top ranks! She is truly an artist artists love...from her skin care to color to tools...hands down some of the best out there. Her concept on technique and beliefs about beauty in general are right up my alley! When I transition my own make up into fall mode, the Laura counter is usually my first stop. Here, I tried a few new products and fell in love. So in love, I had to write a little blip about my top 6 picks! Needless to say-they have made the kit list!
Here we go....
Love this new powder! It can be applied wet or dry...dry if you want sheer to medium coverage, wet if you want fuller foundation coverage. It is oil free and light weight when applied with a brush-which is how I start off with this products. I can get the loveliest finish with this powder and build on it if I need to. Amazing product!! $45.00
Now this perfume isn't new, but it is a staple in my personal stash. I wear it mainly in the Fall/Winter (funny, the bottle seems to last right up until Spring), then I switch to something lighter (like the Vanilla or Coconut) for Spring/Summer! People actually stop me and ask what I am wearing. I love ALL the Crème de Pistache products!! $50.00
I am junkie for a full max volume mascara! I have tried so many, it's amazing how many I don't care for...this one however-I love! It is full volume, not drying, and LONG wear (without the flaking). The pigment is super rich and dark and it had me at "Hello"! $24.00
I am also a sucker for a great brow pencil! Love the color range, the brush on the end, and the grip of the pencil seems just right. Perfect for brow application-if you go too heavy, use the spooly on the end and brush some of the pigment out. $22.00
These are new!! They come in 3 different textures- matte, crème, and sheer!
The color range is GORGEOUS and my pick would be the crèmes!!
Favorite shades-Cozy, Chic, and Café!! $24.00 worth of fabulous!

Ooh la la...this pencil jumped out at me and landed right in my bag! It was super easy to apply!
It has become my 2 second smokey eye. It works great as a thicker liner, or just go for it and smudge-perfect smokey eye. A fall trend we are seeing that rocks is take the pencil and aply it from lashline to crease for a more dramatic look-very rocker chic!! Love this Kohl Liner Extreme $24.00

Those are some of my favorite things right now! We are about to hit The Make Up Show again (wow, that year went fast) in just a few weeks and I am looking forward to seeing what else is out there. As a MUA, your kit is truly never "finished"-it is always being restocked, replenished,
and re-hauled! Again, one of the perks of this fabulous J-O-B I get to call mine.

Until next time...xo!

Ciao Ciao Summer 2013!!

We LOVE falling into Fall and we have so much to write and report about from our latest press to product research! We have had a wonderful, busy and blessed year! So much to be excited about and we promise to carve out just a little bit more time to write about everything!
Right now, we just want to squeeze out every last bit of summer!! Anyone who knows us, knows our motto is "work hard, play harder" and we did just that! In our family we are all beach and boat babies, so most days off are spent on the boat, at the beach, or jumping off of Granddaddy's dock! Many of you follow us on Instagram @lesliecrawfordmoore or Twitter #lesliemoore0112-so you have seen what a blast we have had all summer long. Before we start posting about fabulous fall, we thought we would share a few of our favorite summer memories and pics!
Anyone who has spent 5 minutes with me knows I am a country music FREAK! I live for live music, if there is a concert-SIGN ME UP! Going to CMA-MusicFest in Nashville meant 5 straight days of meeting country music artists and going to concerts big and small all day and all night!
I was in heaven!
Little Big Town!! LBT is one of my all time favorite groups-they were the hosts of the CMA FEST this year at LP Field aka~ Titans Arena!!
1st night in...CMT Music Awards!! We saw hundreds of artist up close and in person-it was CRAZY and I was in my HAPPY place!
On the bridge walking over to LP night 2!
Music Fest used to be called Fan Fair! It was a chance for people like me to meet and get close to singers and songwriters-75,000 people later, they are STILL doing it. Blake, Jason, Hunter, FGL, Kip, Miranda, Kelly P. & Kelly C., Lady A, LBT-they were all walking around taking pictures and saying Hello to everybody! Many of the smaller more private concerts and meet and greets were at the new Music City Center! Amazefest!
Me and my girl Lexi- I call her "Lucy" on one of our many beach trips!
Cameron & Lexi-these cutie pies spent most of their summer jumping off Granddaddy's dock!
Making memories!
Since before I was even born, my family has a Smith Family Reunion every summer in July/August! It all started with my granddaddy's generation and 45 years later (and many more beach houses at Folly Beach), we continue the tradition with our own kiddos. This is me and my bestie, my sister Lorie! She lives in Wilmington, NC and we are still somehow connected at the hip?? LOL!
This is the Moore Crew on Father's Day! We got to spend the day with both dad's-my dad at the beach, Rhett's dad out on the boat. It was the perfect day!
Yep, this is what we spent countless hours doing and loved every single minute!
Life is good in the LowCountry!

We hope that you all had a safe and fabulous summer! Ours was a memorable one for sure.
I pull a triple header this weekend working Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (remember-work hard, play harder)!!!
I am so blessed and remain grateful for all my amazing adventures, I'm one lucky lucky gal!

I hope that you have a wonderful long weekend.
Stay safe and we will see you in September!!

Summah Time!

My oh my-where has the summer gone??
2 more weeks and we are officially "back in school".
With my re-branding will come along a new blog!!
VERY excited about all the new, fabulous, adventures-we have been busy working hard and can't wait to launch my new "baby"!

In the meantime, wedding season has been in full gear and I HAD to share my bride Jessica!
Jessica lives in New York City, is beautiful, funny, and as down to earth as it gets! Her Mom is amazing as well...then I met her girls! Jessica's wedding was on a glorious Sunday and we spent the day getting ready at The Market Pavilion!
I heard the laughter coming from down the hall and knew it was going to be a good day...I walked in and saw PBR and champagne on the table (I knew this was my kinda crowd)...and knew it was going to be a GREAT day! Everyone was dancing around in the cutest robes you have ever seen! The day was perfect! I had so much fun with these girls! I love my "job" and feel so blessed to be a part of their special day. This day was just everything extra-extra fun, extra special, extra fabulous!

These are a few images from the amazing Shannon Michele (www.shannonmichelephotography). If you have never met Shannon, her wonderful personality is reflected in her work! She is one of the nicest people I have met in the industry. Brian and Hunter were there creating perfect hair. All in all, we were surrounded by the most fabulous people all day! It was truly an amazefest of FUN and all things Fabulous!

Congratulations again Jessica! You and your entire crew were gorgeous and I have never seen a Bride look so happy happy happy!! xo
 Love LOVE these robes!
I was smiling so much and laughing so hard, my face actually hurt!
This should be on the cover of something!!
Bride & MOB...glancing outside before they walk out to friends and family. Sweet shot!
 Bright eyes, big smile!
Favorite shot of the night!

Enjoy the rest of your summer nights and long weekends! See you soon~xo

What's In My Beach Bag!

Along with summer comes a lighter look and a lighter bag!
Down in Charleston we are always on the beach, out in the boat, or at the pool. I like to keep things simple, easy, and breezy. People are always asking ,"What's in your summer essentials bag?"
These are a few of my favorite things, my top 5 summer must haves, and what's in my beach bag!

AMAZING product!! Anti-aging AND sunscreen...sign me up!! SPF 50

Love this light weight formula. Dry oil hydrates the skin showing off  those shapely legs!! Score!!

A staple in ALL of my purses, kits, and bags!!

These are called dreamy for a reason! Great punchy summer colors, easy to use & they don't budge.

Love a good hydrating tinted lip balm. The colors are subtle but perfect for poolside.
Ps-they carry an SPF of 15!

We hope that you are having a Fabulous summer so far!
Have a super & safe holiday week/weekend!
Have a ROCKN' 4th of July!

Stellar & Stunning

If any Bride could be gorgeous, classy, yet still sexy~it was my bride Anne!
Check out this sassy little oversized oxford-the wedding date was embroidered on the sleeves! Love!!
All images provided by Riverland Studios

 The Girls!

I love this shot, only in Charleston can the back drop be almost as pretty as the bride!

Simply Stunning!

Pretty Maids all in a row~

When I met Anne, I liked her instantly. She had a vision. She knew what she wanted and knew what she liked. She was a details girl and I loved that about her! She was a tiny little thing, with a killer body, gorgeous skin, and hair anybody could easily be jealous over. We scheduled our run through right before her bachlorette weekend. Poor thing had a scratched cornea, so we did her entire face, except for that one eye. I knew she was going to be a knock out no matter what, but I was really looking forward to the actual wedding day-were we could go full out! She did not disappoint! She and her girls were fabulous. They all looked so different, all gorgeous in their own way. They had great energy and we had a wonderful time getting them ready that day. The day came and went so fast, but I knew it had been a spectacular wedding. Fast forward 4 months later and I get not only 1 but 3 pleasant surprise notices that her wedding was featured in 3 different publications. All, I can say is a big BRAVO to Riverland Studios for capturing this so beautifully and congrats to all 3 publications who shared the vision! Stellar job, stunning wedding!!

"It's a Good Thing"

"It's a Good Thing"
 Beautiful Laura!
Yay for credit, thanks Team MSW!
 Lovely spread, so pretty!

Blogging to you from the back porch this gorgeous afternoon!

We are so blessed to be full tilt in our Spring Wedding Season, but wanted to take a few minutes to share...
One of our beautiful Brides from last May had her wedding featured in Martha Stewart Weddings this month~we are thrilled for her, but there is also a cool story that goes along with it (doesn't that always happen?).
I met Laura last year for her run through and May wedding out at Kiawah Island (gorgeous place you MUST visit). She had a fabulous group of bridesmaids and one of them named Patty explained that I would be doing her wedding the following year! I was so excited to see Patty again and have the opportunity to work with her on her Big Day! She was married at Lowndes Grove 2 weeks ago-stunning wedding!! Another perk was I got to see Laura again as she was a bridesmaid in Patty's wedding. While at Patty's wedding, one of her bridesmaids asked if I had her wedding date open for 2014~I did...so we are in the works of booking her wedding for next year. The following week, I received an email from a sweet Bride saying she was in Laura's wedding last May and asked about my availability for her wedding date in 2014! My head was swimming a bit, but I thought how cool?! 4 gals who all know each other, who were in each other's weddings? Apparently, this fabulous group group hails from the same hometown of Florence, SC and have all remained very close. They all live and work in big cities, but stay close and come together for each others weddings. I love that and feel it says so much about them!
Whoever says there is no repeat business in weddings is crazy! Word of mouth and referrals are the best kind of business to have. I am fortunate to be a part of this special circle of friends. They are all gorgeous inside and out, and the day spent with them is always fun & fabulous.
As Martha says, "It's a good thing"...a really really good thing! ;)

Spring Fever!

Happy Spring 2013!
Can you believe it is the first day of Spring?!
It was a gorgeous day here in Charleston! We have been busy, but we are about to get real busy~but before we hit the ground running, we decided to take a little bit of time to switch gears and get revved up for Spring.
We will get to the make up part later, but thought we would share some of the fun festivities of getting our Spring ON!
For us, it's starts with a fabulous facial and an eye brow clean up (I personally go back and forth between waxing and threading)~amazing what a good brow job will do-can we say instant face lift??
Next, we call our girl Heather who owns the best mobile tanning service in town~
Lowcountry Mobile Tanning.
She comes over, pops up her gear and in less than 20 minutes you are golden & glowing! I like the luxury of an at home spray tan, because drying is one of the most important parts of the process (inside secret-if you can walk around in your birthday suit for about an hour, it dries perfectly-NO streaking, well I guess a little "streaking",lol!!).
Lastly, we hit our favorite spa for some girl time and a fresh pedicure!
After months in tights and boots, nothing feels fresher than the first spring pedicure! The hardest part is picking out a fresh, new, juicy color-I like bright toes and there are SO many to choose from!
So there you have it, Spring Fever has hit and we are well on our way to all things, pretty~flirty~poppy~ & FABulous!!
Happy Spring Chickies!! xo

Style Me(gan) Pretty

Style Me(gan) Pretty

This was one of my favorites and I am so glad it got to be featured on Style Me Pretty!
Megan was stunning and unique-I immediately liked her and her fabulous Mom!
When we met, we realized we had so much in common~she too graduated from
The New School (AMDA-American Music and Dramatic Academy) and we even had some of the same teachers! She lives in Carolina Beach, NC-which is where my sister lives. Her Mom lives in Nashville (we all know about my love affair with Nashville) and she also works for a medical company I am very familiar with. It was crazy going down the list of things we could chat about.
Getting to her special day...she was a true vision who had a true vision. Her girls were all beautiful and so different, it was wonderful to create a look for each one-yet keeping the entire wedding party look cohesive.
This wedding was a knock out, so make sure you take a lookie lou~Style Me Pretty!

A little make up and a whole lotta heart!

Back in October, I had the privilege of meeting a friend of a friend~Dane Klein.
Dana is an amazing woman of many uber talents, photography being one of those special talents. Now, I have been blessed in this industry to work with some of the best photographers, but this gal had a vision and heart. Enter~Project SHINE!
Project SHINE is a project that captures the heart, soul, and beauty of breast cancer survivors. I was fortunate enough to be on both sides of the lens for this project. For me, it was very emotional-more than I expected. Each woman had their hair and make up (insert Leslie & Margaret) done, and then a private photo session. It had been a loooong time since I felt that beautiful and FREE. The super cool element to this project, is that I know each of these fabulous women very well, several are very good friends (2 are "cowgirls") and to watch them reemerge and regain their wings, made me misty.
I know how it made me feel, but to watch them "shine" was priceless! I was honored to be a part of this project all the way around and it certainly felt like a full circle moment to me!
Many images were taken that day, but this image captures a few moments at the very end of our shoot~we were grateful to take a little time out for ourselves. These women are gorgeous, but we all walked away feeling like a million bucks and that breast cancer was finally in our rear view mirror.
Hallelujah and SHINE ON!!
Special thanks to Dana Klein~ to see more of Project SHINE please go to

Fabulous February!

Hello and Happy February!!
We hope this finds everyone staying happy, healthy, warm and cozy.
The weather here down South has been "wonky" so say the least. We are swinging from 80 degree weather to 55 degree weather day to day. Crazy, but it keeps our weathermen excited, lol. (For those of you who might not know-my Dad is a meteorologist) :)

Just wanted to give you all an update to let you know some of the exciting things we have going on...this time of year, along with the normal business and office work-we try and spend this time replenishing, grooming over books, and updating sites & blogs. We are happy to say that we are currently working on a mooremakeup.com site conversion, a mobile site, new blog and an app!! Whew, for somebody who is not so tech savvy~that's a whollatta tech talk. Lucky for me I have a fabulous team of amazingly talented peeps.

There are several reasons for the changes and wanted to share the information as we roll along.
Many of you do know, I am breast cancer survivor.
During my journey, we started a non-profit Foundation-
 Warriors 4 Warriors Foundation
and also wrote a book-
Warriors Wear Pink
I am also blessed to remain very busy with Moore Make Up~I adore everything make up and make up related!
All of that being said, I have been spending a great deal of time working on time management (is that an oxy-moron?)~ making sure we continue to deliver excellence in all areas and maximize our time.
We have a plan in place, and so far...so good.

The main change will be the "hub" site, which is currently up, but evolving as I write this...(all of this is being worked on simultaneously). If you go to www.lesliecrawfordmoore.com it will give you the opportunity to connect directly with all 3 divisions of what we are encompassing. We are beyond grateful and remain extremely passionate about all aspects and adventures of our journey thus far.
So, that's what is coming down the pipe. Never in a million years did I think I would be living life this wonderfully, but I am. I am so excited, so happy, and so thrilled to see what's around the corner... from here, so far-the future is looking BRIGHT.
And if you are reading this, then I have you to thank!! ;)
Until next time...xo

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Can you believe we have entered another NEW year?!
That just seems down right crazy to me!
I want to start off by saying THANK YOU for such a marvelous 2012!
We celebrated our 12th year in October and to date, this has been the best and busiest!
I simply cannot express the gratitude I feel for all of our colleagues, vendors, clients, and friends.
You all are what made this year spectacular!
I have learned so much this year and continue to grow in many ways (never stop learning). You all know I love writing about my experiences and of course the make up. However, this year, we were so busy working we did not have as much time to write about certain things, so we were selective.
Often I choose to write about someone or something that happened versus a magazine we were in or the latest greatest product. Don't get me wrong, if I could write every single day-I would write about ALL of that. When time is so limited, I have to pick and choose. From a business stand point-sure it's important to post stuff like that, but I would rather write about the people I meet or the experiences we shared. At the end of the day, it is always about what happens in between the make up that I always remember.
My thoughts linger~ hugging my Bride who lost her sweet father just 6 months prior to her wedding day. Watching her bravery as she prepared on her wedding day.Talking quietly to a distraught bridesmaid who was secretly miscarrying as she was helping the Bride get ready (she now has a beautiful baby girl), or even the sweetest group of gals I had this year-all 5 Brides were in each other's wedding-one of their bridesmaids got into a horrible car accident the night before one of the weddings. They did not think she was going to make it, but she continues to improve and get better every day. Those are the people I remember and continue to think about. I am a lucky gal, I tend to stay in contact with most of my Bride's, often getting holiday cards and baby announcements...I love that on Facebook or Instagram-I will hear from people as far away as South Africa!
We also had some wonderful opportunities this year to travel and to be in the most beautiful spots. Even in and around the Lowcountry, I don't take for granted how stunning the locations I frequent are...it never gets old to me. I do my best to make sure I am on location early so I can take in all the beauty, skill, and talent these special days hold.
We have some exciting things on the horizon for 2013! We are traveling a good bit again this year, our books are almost full~ we are freshening up our "look" a little bit, and promise (maybe with a little help) to write and post more!
Look out, we feel this is going to be the best year yet!
We want to thank you for such an amazing 2012!!
Here is to another fabulous year~2013 is going to ROCK!!!

The Good Stuff!!

Well, the holiday season is not approaching...it is HERE!!
I cannot believe it! We are blessed to be busy throughout the season, but have gotten wiser about taking cherished time off with our families. I love my "job" and I love working hard, very hard-but at the end of the day family is what's most important. I have learned that you don't get that time back and for me it's always about finding that balance. Even after 12 years, I am still learning. I just do my best and pray it's enough :)

I wanted to share this sweet email I got from a young aspiring gal in Alabama. Now, I don't know how other artist/business owners would react to this, but I was thrilled! I was also honored that she would even ask me! I don't know this girl very well (yet), but I admire her moxie in reaching out. She sounds like a go-getter, who knows what she likes, has goals and plans to make them happen. She also reminded me of me at that age. I had amazing support in my life and several mentors throughout my many journeys. It would be my pleasure and my privledge to help this young artist in any way I can. This is what makes my work so cool. It is so much more than about the make up. It is about relationships, helping people, and maybe having a little something to do with making someone's life a little bit better.

Hello Mrs. Moore,

My name is Meredith, I'm a friend of Hannah's. She told me you were
a make up artiest and showed me your website, and I was instantly
inspired by your work and wanted to ask you a few questions if that
was okay with you.
I've been trying to decide what I career I want to pursue and what
courses to take in college. I'd love to be a make up artist, I'm
currently Head of Hair and Make up at Grissom's Theater Department, and
although theater make up and daily or special occasion make up use
vastly different styles, it inspired me to look into cosmetology  and
becoming a make up artist. I have some experience doing special
occasion make up but nothing extravagant or professional. My friends
ask me to do their hair and make up for Homecoming, Prom and the
occasional pageants. I love doing make up and I'm really thinking
about pursuing it as a career.
I was wondering how you got started in the make up business, if
there are any techniques i could start trying to develop and practice
or where i could possibly be trained by professionals and if there are
any particular make up brands and tools i could use that are good
quality.
Thank you for taking the time to read this email. I hope to hear from you soon!

Meredith Darwin

What a sweet sweet girl, her email made me smile and I look forward to connecting with her soon!

Peace~Love~Lipstick xo

Thanksgiving 2012

Wow, is Thanksgiving really tomorrow?!
It has always been my favorite holiday and we are really looking forward to spending some quality family time together!

I simply cannot believe how fast this year has flown by. It has been such an amazing year.
I am blessed and we are grateful for so much-our bookings, clients, vendors, planners, photographers, and of course our Brides!
I have some the best Brides out there and I want to say Thank You~I love what I do, but you make me get up and really look forward to going to "work"!

I have to blog about my trip with the Make Up Mavens to The Make Up Show in Orlando. MUMs is a group of 5 of us, who are artists, professional confidants, and good friends.
We regularly get together to talk shop and speak on ways to not only keep our industry standards high, but to continually raise the bar. Well, we all blocked this weekend (5 days) off on our busy books and it was THE best trip ever, like EVER!!
I will probably write about this trip from many different perspectives, but since it's is Thanksgiving-I found it appropriate to give thanks to my group of mavens and for the opportunity to experience and learn so much.
Not only about makeup and the industry, but each other.

Margaret, Kelly, Elizabeth, and Pamela-I am grateful to know you all. I admire, respect, and appreciate not only your talents, but your integrity.
Without the qualities of trust and integrity~talent is of no use.
We were all inspired by so much from that trip. We all took away such treasured moments, some of them life changing (thank MDV) true inspiration should be passed on and shared.

I feel blessed to be a part of such a fabulous group of artists, but what I am most thankful for is my friendship with each one of them.

Happy Thanksgiving my Mavens.

May this year be just the begininning of more fabulousness to come!
I love you all!
